We as trustees invite you to the Te Tii Waitangi Marae AGM to be held Sat 18 Nov 2023 at the Tahuaroa Conference Centre, Waitangi Treaty Grounds.
This is in accordance with Judge Armstrongs directions who clearly stipulated that we must hold an AGM by 1st Dec 2023.
There will be 3 trustee vacancies and all Beneficiaries are eligible for nomination, form attached. We encourage you all to discuss this with your whanau so that they may consider nominating you as a trustee. The close off date is 5pm Sat 4th Nov 2023.
We will compile all info ready for distribution once all nominations have been received. We aim to produce booklets by 5pm 11th Nov 2023 so that everyone has a week to peruse all details. In the meantime, the Sat 18 Dec 2021 AGM minutes are attached to this email.

Kia ora mai ano tatou,
Just a reminder that our Te Tii Waitangi Marae AGM is this Sat 18 Nov 2023 at Tahuaroa Conference Centre, Waitangi Treaty Grounds.
There's only a small car park at the top gate by Hobson Memorial roundabout so please enter at the bottom car park and come through the main reception. If kaumatua need support, then talk to the staff at the main entrance reception desk and let them know.
We haven't had many requests for hard copies of the AGM booklets but that's ok we'll make them available on the day but for now all the reports are accessible digitally via our website www.waitangimarae.co.nz.
Five trustee nomination forms were submitted and received before the deadline of 5pm Nov 4th Nov 2023 - Ngati Kawa Taituha, Saku Taurua, Carol Thompson Rameka, Dennis Te Kuru and Mamaeroa Lemon.
Please note that Danny Tuato'o is the facilitator for the elections and after seeking his legal advice he's supported that votes can be cast between 9am and 1pm which will conclude by a preliminary voting results announcement on the day with a follow up display of Danny's recount on our website 5pm 25 Nov 2023. However, the MLC will make the final decision on who is officially appointed when the minutes and AGM record is filed as part of our application to remove and replace trustees. If you're wondering why this is happening, it's because at the last AGM there were people who actually submitted their votes twice and this distorted the process so just to be safe and to ensure that only valid votes are counted, Danny will do a double check by recounting the votes during the week after the AGM.
Also to ensure a cleaner process, Danny has directed that all eligible voters must be members of Ngati Rahiri, as stated in our Marae Charter, but to reduce the possibility of voting distortion, you must sign the attendance register on arrival but voting cards will only be handed out when you are ready to enter the voting booth area where you tick to support 1-3 preferred candidates and then you drop your completed voting card directly into the ballot box. It's very much following the previous AGM's voting process but with some improvements so that we eliminate the problems we experienced before. Hopefully that is acceptable to all.
Please direct any comments, objections or questions to our Secretary - maryannebaker@xtra.co.nz and feel free to submit that before the AGM so we have an early heads up
